COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – While the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) revealed its 2026-27 conference schedule back in April, the NCHC announced on Tuesday it has finalized the date for its 2027 Frozen Faceoff Championship Game, as well as made two other adjustments to the conference slate.
 
For the first time, the NCHC Frozen Faceoff Championship Game will be scheduled for a Friday, as the title contest will take place on Friday, March 19 at the site of the highest remaining seed. Previously, the Frozen Faceoff Championship had taken place on a Saturday. However, with the NCHC Tournament moving entirely to campus sites, the new format allowed for the final to be contested a day earlier. The move to Friday will allow the two Frozen Faceoff Championship Game participants an additional day of rest prior to the NCAA Tournament, which starts the following week.
 
Should the University of Minnesota Duluth host the 2027 NCHC Frozen Faceoff Championship, the title game will shift back to Saturday, March 20 due to a building conflict at AMSOIL Arena. The 2027 NCAA Women’s Frozen Four was previously awarded to AMSOIL Arena and is set to take place on Friday, March 19 and Sunday, March 21 in Duluth.
 
In addition to the Championship Game change, two sets of travel partners adjusted their season series from what was initially announced on April 21. The Gold Pan rivalry between Colorado College and Denver flipped the locations of their final regular-season series as the in-state foes will now square off at Magness Arena in Denver on Friday, Feb. 26 and at Ed Robson Arena in Colorado Springs on Saturday, Feb. 27 to wrap up the regular season. The Tigers and Pioneers first series of the year remains the same and is split over two weekends, first at Denver on Saturday, Jan. 16 and then at CC on Saturday, Jan. 30.
 
New travel partners St. Cloud State and St. Thomas also tweaked their four-game NCHC season series. Initially the Huskies and Tommies planned to play a pair of home-and-home series, however, the teams will now play one series at St. Thomas and one at St. Cloud State. SCSU and UST will first meet at Lee & Penny Anderson Arena in Saint Paul on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 8-9, before the teams square off again to close the regular season at the Herb Brooks National Hockey Center in St. Cloud on Feb. 26-27. The Huskies and Tommies will also meet in an exhibition game outdoors on Saturday, Jan. 30 as part of Hockey Day Minnesota in Brainerd, Minn.
 
Along with the NCHC conference schedule adjustments, all NCHC non-conference schedules have now been finalized and released. Dates and match-ups are subject to change, while some times and exhibitions are still to be announced.
 
The 2026-27 season officially gets underway on Friday, Oct. 2, with five NCHC teams facing non-conference foes and one playing an exhibition, including Minnesota Duluth hosting Long Island and Colorado College welcoming UMass in two-game series. The pursuit of the Penrose Cup then begins on Oct. 30-31 with four conference series. The 2027 NCHC Frozen Faceoff, which has a new format this year, begins with five, best-of-three First Round Series from March 5-7.
